As is clearly reflected in the bar chart above, the percentages of students with the degree of different levels in the last ten years underwent a huge change in the college mentioned. In the year of 2008, 60 percent of college students were undergraduates, while postgraduates and Ph.D students took up 30% and 10%, respectively. When it comes to 2018, the undergraduates experienced a 5% rise, while the ratio of postgraduates decreases by 5%, with the number of Ph.D students increasing by 10%。
What triggers this phenomenon? It is not difficult to put forward several factors responsible for this phenomenon. To start with, the government enacted a policy of enrollment expansion in the first decade of 21st century, which led to dramatic increase of the number of undergraduates. What’s more, with the efficient policy carried out, the number of postgraduates has been growing rapidly but the percentage of them declines conversely.
